Martin Scheeler, Sr. founded Buffalo Wire Works Co., Inc. under the name Scheeler & Sons. Scheeler was committed to providing customers with wire cloth products of superior design, excellent manufacturing and great value.
1903
Scheeler & Sons officially becomes Buffalo Wire Works.
2000
After five generations of Scheeler family ownership, Charles “Guy” Scheeler brought our current Owner/CEO, Joseph M. Abramo on to transition the company into the future.
Working together, the management team developed a strategy to aggressively invest in personnel and advanced manufacturing technology. The company immediately began to focus on strengthening its financial position in preparation for global growth and investment.
2003
Guy Scheeler, the last active Scheeler family member, retires and Joe Abramo buys Buffalo Wire.
2005
The management team navigates through an 11 month labor strike that reestablished the company’s competitive global manufacturing position. During this period the management team ran all facets of the company. In this truly transformational period, our management team learned all aspects of the business!
2006
Buffalo Wire significantly ramps up investments in automated machinery.
2008
The company aggressively begins to invest in the synthetic screen business.
2010
Buffalo Wire buys the assets of Scott Screen Ltd.
2012
Buffalo Wire opens a full service weaving and fabrication warehouse facility in Sparks, Nevada.
2013
Working with the University of Buffalo, the company fully embraces a complete “Lean” review of all processes and procedures.
2015
Lindsay Abramo is elected to the board of directors. The second generation begins to become more actively involved in the business.
2016
Christine Abramo is elected to the board of directors, further solidifying the second generation’s involvement in Buffalo Wire.
Buffalo Wire Works continues to grow as a company and expand its product offerings. In 2016 Buffalo Wire acquired Rock Polymers Inc. to become a leading manufacturer of urethane screens and wear parts. In addition to this acquisition, the company has significantly invested in the manufacturing of urethane products by purchasing state of the art equipment as well as acquiring the assets from J.L. Enterprises.
