PFX HT Panels Boosted Productivity and Reduced Downtime

01. The Challenge

Due to wear and tear, the customer faced frequent screen panel replacements, requiring changeouts every 3-5 weeks. These replacements, caused by processing high-silica sand mixed with stone and organics, led to 1-2 monthly changeouts. Each changeout took 4-5 hours, resulting in substantial production downtime and significant financial losses. Additionally, the heavy wire used in their previous panels impacted production efficiency, with an open area (O.A.) of only 49%.

02. The Solution

Buffalo recommended using the PFX HT panels to improve wear life and throughput. Switching to these panels increased the open area from 49% to 57%, enhancing material flow and productivity. The customer was initially concerned about throughput, but the HT panels' improved specifications and durability convinced them to try a full deck.

03. The Result

  • The switch to PFX HT panels transformed the customer’s operations. Wear life extended from 3-5 weeks to 3-4 months, significantly reducing the frequency of changeouts and associated downtime. The improved open area increased efficiency, yielding higher production numbers.
  • Since adopting the PFX HT panels in August 2021, the customer has consistently ordered 2-3 sets per year, demonstrating their trust in the product’s performance and its impact on their operations.
